About Us

If you spend even a few minutes online, you’ll realize there is no shortage of law firms in Honolulu. You’ll also discover that some of these firms focus on estate planning, as we do. So why should you choose our firm to address your planning needs? Here are just a few reasons.

Malama Ohana (Family Care) Program

We want to help you create a plan that protects everyone you love and everything you own. It is important to understand that even the most carefully designed plan needs updating over time. Why? Tax laws are constantly changing. The laws governing things like asset preservation, Medicaid eligibility, retirement plan distributions, and trusts change as well. So, too, do personal and family situations. Loved ones get married, they get divorced, they have children of their own, and they make good investments and bad ones. Your and your loved ones’ physical and financial well-being also changes over time.

Planning strategies and tools that made sense in the past may no longer be the best solutions to meet your current needs and goals.

This is why we created our proprietary Malama Ohana (Family Care) Program. Your first year in the program is included in the fees you pay us for helping you set up your estate plan. You can call us with questions, get help with funding, and more, at no additional charge.

After the first year, you can choose to continue in the Program and have your plan reviewed and updated on an annual basis at a significantly lower cost than if you paid for revisions to necessary legal documents separately.

By reviewing your plan periodically, we can work with you to make revisions to take advantage of changing laws and other relevant legal developments, as well as take into account changes in your assets and your health, and changes that impact your loved ones. We can also help you make sure your trusts remain properly funded. In this way, your plan will always be up to date and ready to achieve your goals.

A Commitment to Client Education

We believe that our clients deserve to know the planning options available to them and how the tools and strategies we recommend will help them achieve their goals. This is why we will take the time to explain your options in easy-to-understand terms, free of complicated “legalese;” why we host complimentary educational workshops; why we provide you with newsletters about important topics in estate planning and elder law; and why we include an educational blog, video FAQs, and news updates on our website.

The more you know about estate planning, and your plan in particular, the more effectively we can help you find peace of mind.

A Commitment to Collaboration

The best plans are the result of close collaboration. We will work closely with you to design and implement your plan (including, among other things, helping your fund your trusts), and we will help you keep your plan up to date. We will also work closely with your trusted advisors, such as your CPA, insurance agent, and financial planner, to make sure your plan is comprehensive and effective. Your advisors are welcome to attend our workshops and your meetings with us.
